The Head of Research and Advocacy,Mr.JavierTapiawill participate this Wednesday, July 6 in the Seminar “Intellectual Property and Competition: Permitted Monopolies?” organized by the National Institute for Intellectual Property – INAPI.
The FNE participates in UNCTAD Working Group Meeting | 05 / 07 / 2011
On July 4th and 5th, Mrs. Mónica Salamanca, Head of the Institutional Relations Department, will represent the FNE in the “I Meeting of the Working Group on Trade and Competition in Latin America and the Caribbean”, which will take place in Bogotá, Colombia and is organized by the United Nations Conference (UNCTAD) on Trade and Development and the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), in coordination with the Superintendency on Industry and Commerce in Colombia (SIC) and with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism in Spain.
The purpose of this meeting is to inaugurate the Working Group on Trade and Competition in Latin America and the Caribbean, to analyze priorities and discuss the perspective of the region on matters that will be covered during the 11th edition of the UNCTAD’s Meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy (Geneva, July 19-21, 2011). The FNE participates in a seminar on Intellectual Property and Competition | 05 / 07 / 2011
On July 5th and 6th, Mr. Mario Ybar, Deputy Head of Investigations of the FNE, will participate in the seminar “Roundtable on Intellectual Property and Competition Policies: The experiences of certain countries in Latin America” which will take place in Río de Janeiro, Brazil, and is organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with the Government of Brazil.
The aim of the talks is to offer policymakers the opportunity to better understand the interrelation between both sectors.Mr.Ybar’s participation is fully financed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The FNE rises in Global Competition Review ranking | 29 / 06 / 2011
As it does every year, the British magazine specializing in competition matters, the Global Competition Review (GCR), dedicates a special edition to present the results of its evaluation, rating and categorization of the performance of a group of competition agencies and authorities (“the most important in the world”). Until now, including its edition of June 2011, the GCR has carried out eleven evaluations, in which the FNE obtained a rating of 2.5 stars out of a maximum of five.
The FNE participates in the OECD | 28 / 06 / 2011
The National Economic Prosecutor,Mr.FelipeIrarrázabal, is currently participating in meetings held by Competition Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), inParis.
This year, the program for the meetings will cover issues such as competition in the ports and port services sector, mitigation measures in mergers, causes and incentives for complying with competition legislations and the role of corporate compliance programs, and evaluation studies on the impact in markets from decisions concerning mergers, among others.
The FNE obtains conviction against radio consortiums and executives for collusion in public bidding process of radio concessions | 23 / 06 / 2011
The TDLC, unanimously, decided to accept the complaint filed by the FNE against Corporación Radio Valparaíso (pertaining to theEl Mercuriogroup), Radio Bío Bío and another 6 radio companies, in addition to 2 of their executives, for colluding to alter the result of bids tendered by Telecommunications Undersecretary’s Office, in order to award radio broadcasting concessions in Frequency Modulation.
