Competition authorities from Europe and Latin America will participate in an international forum organized by the FNE and the Innovarte Corporation

Competition authorities from Europe and Latin America, along with recognized expert lawyers and economists will meet this Friday remotely in the forum “Digital Platforms and Competition: Cases, Regulation and Trends in Europe and Latin America”, organized by the Innovarte Corporation with the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE).

The meeting, which is also sponsored by the Center for Competition of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, is intended for officials from competition agencies to debate common issues and challenges posed by the digital economy from a behavioral and regulatory perspective.

The event, which will be hosted by the National Economic Prosecutor, Ricardo Riesco, will also include, from Europe, the President of the Authorité de la Concurrence de France, Isabelle de Silva; the President of the German Bundeskartellamt, Andreas Mundt; the President of the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC), Cani Fernández; and the President of the Hellenic Competition Commission, Ioannis Lianos.

From Latin America, the participants will be the President of the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) of Mexico, Alejandra Palacios Prieto; the President of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) of Brazil, Alexandre Barreto de Souza; and the Superintendent of Industry and Commerce of Colombia, Andrés Barreto.

Finally, the experts who will participate in the forum are the Senior Managing Director and Head of Compass Lexecon Europe, Jorge Padilla; the Partner and Co-Chair of Global Antitrust Practice of Clifford Chance (Brussels), Thomas Vinje; the Deputy Director of the Competition Program of the Catholic University of Chile, Richard Peña; and the Director of the Innovarte Corporation, Luis Villarroel.

The forum will be held in panels that will address the following topics: “Application of European legislation on competition, regulation and trends related to digital platforms”, “Latin American challenges and developments in the application of competition law regarding digital platforms ”and a presentation of the Report on the Jurisprudence of Digital Platforms of the Competition Law Program of the Universidad Católica de Chile.
