29 / 03 / 2022

The National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE) presented the collusion case against the cash and valuables transportation companies Brink’s, Prosegur and Loomis and against six executives linked to them before the Working Group on Cross-Border Cartels of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) today.

In her presentation, the lawyer from the FNE’s Litigation Division, Rosana Zamora, referred in particular to the difficulties involved in serving requests or lawsuits to individuals who are outside national territory. During the meeting, the FNE urged to seek greater international cooperation in order to facilitate this type of procedure and promptly carry out the trials that seek to sanction these behaviors.

In addition to the FNE, the Competition Directorate of the European Union also presented, explaining the cartel of shipping companies that participate in the international vehicle transport market.

Agencies from over 20 jurisdictions, from 4 different continents, participated in the session.

The UNCTAD Cross-Border Cartel Working Group was created in 2020 to share best practices and facilitate information exchanges in international cartel cases. The group brings together competition agencies from jurisdictions that belong to the United Nations, international organizations, and other stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, and academia.
