The National Economic Prosecution Office (FNE) was chosen among its peers to become one of the Co-chairs of the Cartel Working Group at the International Competition Network (ICN), the leading network of competition authorities worldwide, comprised by 141 agencies from 5 continents.
The Cartel Working Group is one of the organization’s five working groups, and it is mandated to address the challenges of anti-cartel enforcement, including the prevention, detection, investigation and punishment of cartel conduct, both domestically and internationally.
The FNE will replace the French Autorité de la Concurrence and will co-lead the group together with the Italian Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato and the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia. With this appointment, the FNE will leave its position as part of the Subgroup on Enforcement Techniques, held since 2016.
“This designation is a true honor for our agency and a great responsibility for the future. It amounts to a recognition from the international community of both the progress and the achievements the FNE has made on the investigation and prosecution of cartels”, said the National Economic Prosecutor, Ricardo Riesco.
